Full disclosure: I'm a total fanboy. Jim Butcher is one of my favorite authors and his writing is just a delight to read. I was pleased to see that his work translates well into graphic novel form so even though I'd read the original version of these comic adaptations, they were still excellent reads. I can't wait for more original stories to come out in graphic novel form. My one major criticism (which dropped it a star) is that the stories were poorly edited. I found several glaring typos that kinda took me out of the moment. Maybe that bugs me so much because I edit for a living so I'm trained to spot errors, but professionally produced works should really go through the wringer when it comes to that sort of thing. Still, typos aside, it's a great omnibus and worth buying. This collection includes 3 miniseries connected to the Dresden Files books. I must day, as someone who hasn't read the books in abit, I did no have any problem following where each of these miniseries falls in the greater chronology. Each volume does open with references where it fits in, but to be frank each series is isolated enough that it almost doesn't matter too much. As for the plots of these three stories, I do think the second story is the strongest. Ghoul Goblin, the first story, is frankly rather boiler plate. Not bad in any way, but I did guess the big villain reveal as soon as I saw them based solely on my knowledge of the Dresden formula. War Cry is the second story, and is the strongest due mainly to its simplicity. Vampires want in a house, and Dresden and his gang don't want them to get in that house. The third story, Down Town, feels the most like a classic Dresden Files story. That one also has the most supporting characters from the books, so if you haven't read the books before this would give you a snapshot of what the world of Dresden is like. The art only gets better with each story, with Down Town being actually quite nice looking.
